Eighth IEEE International Workshop on Practical Issues in Building Sensor Network Applications
(IEEE SenseApp 2013)

in conjunction with IEEE LCN 2013
21-24 October 2013
Novotel Central Sydney, Sydney, Australia

Sensor nodes are autonomous devices that combine sensing, computing andwireless communication capabilities. These nodes are deeply embeddedinto the physical surroundings, and gather and process information such astemperature, humidity, light characteristics, seismic activities or images andsound samples from the physical world. Networked systems of such sensorsare expected to be used in a variety of applications including habitatmonitoring, precision agriculture, disaster recovery operations, healthcareand supply chain management. Real-world sensor network deployments arestill scarce, yet prototypic implementations are getting more common, particularly with the advent of novel sensing platforms such assmartphones, which allow for extending dedicated sensor networks. Experiences gained in such deployments are crucial for the sensor networkresearch community. These results are needed to refine assumptions madewhen designing hardware, software, protocols and mechanisms for sensor networks.

This workshop aims at bringing together researchers from both academiaand industry to showcase their work and obtain feedback. We expect theworkshop to act as a forum for the sensor network research community todiscuss open issues, novel solutions and the future development of wirelesssensor networks in general. We encourage contributions describinginnovative work in the realm of wireless sensor networks.
